ALBANY, N.Y. - The Boston University women's soccer team defeated Albany, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon at Varsity Field in Albany, N.Y. Junior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge sparked the BU offense with one goal and two assists in the victory. Sophomore Casey Brown netted the game-winning goal just six minutes into the game, while classmate Emily Pallotta and freshman Stephanie Croghan added insurance goals for the Terriers. It was Croghan's first collegiate goal. BU improves to 5-5-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the America East Conference, while the Great Danes fall to 3-5-3 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.

The Terriers struck early with the game winner goal in the sixth minute of action when Brown (Natick, Mass.) tallied her first goal of the season off a corner kick from Schumacher-Hodge (Pittsburgh, Pa.).

BU put one more on the board with a goal from Pallotta (Andover, Mass.) at 26:31. Schumacher-Hodge registered her second assist on the goal when she feed a pass to Pallotta (Andover, Mass.), who was open on the far post.

Schumacher-Hodge gave the Terriers the 3-0 lead going into halftime off a pass from sophomore Mara Osher (Rockville, Md.) with less than 12 minutes remaining in the stanza.

Freshman Stephanie Croghan (McLean, Va.) earned her first collegiate goal with 24:10 left on the scoreboard as she followed up on a rebound off a shot from Pallotta at the top of the box.

Seniors Christina Reuter and Lauren Stewart shared the shutout in net.

BU out shot Albany, 16-5, and held a 4-0 edge in corner kick situations.

BU returns to action on Monday, Oct. 8 when it takes a break from conference play to host Dartmouth at 7:00 p.m.
