Softball Downs Liberty, 2-0; Game Against Chattanooga Delayed

TAMPA, Fla. - Freshman hurler Kelley Engman pitched her first collegiate shutout in a 2-0 victory against Liberty on Friday afternoon in Tampa, Fla. Engman struck out four batters to improve to 2-3 in the circle, pitching her second complete game of the year. Sophomore Rachel Hebert drove in both of the Terriers' runs with singles in the fourth and sixth, as BU improves to 6-9 overall. The Terriers contest against Chattanooga was delayed in the bottom of the second inning with the Terriers down, 3-2. The game will be finished on Saturday at an undetermined time.

Engman got 16-of-21 outs by groundballs, struck four out and issued just one walk. Hebert was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while juniors Shayne Lotito, Christy Leath and freshman Melanie Delgado also had multiple hit games.

After three scoreless innings, Hebert broke through in the bottom of the fourth with a single to shortstop that brought home senior Molly Gallagher. The sophomore first baseman than struck again in the sixth on a single to left center, plating Lotito. In the top of the seventh, Engman prevented Liberty from rallying, retiring all three batters in order.

BU's second game against Chattanooga was delayed in the bottom of the second inning with the Terriers down, 3-2. Play will resume tomorrow.
