WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior captain Jenn Wakefield of the Boston University women’s hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Wakefield had a career day on Saturday, as she recorded her first collegiate hat trick as part of a six-point afternoon to lead the Terriers to a 6-2 win over Vermont. Combined with her power play goal at New Hampshire on Thursday, Wakefield finished the week with four goals and three assists for seven points, which extended her point streak to eight games.
The Pickering, Ont., native ranks third in the conference with 34 points, while her 15 goals and 19 assists are each good for second in Hockey East in their respective categories. She also leads the league with seven power play tallies.
