WAKEFIELD, Mass. -
Thanks to his 37-save performance in a road win over Merrimack, freshman goaltender Sean Maguire of the No. 9 Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Maguire won his fifth straight start on Friday, stopping 37 of the 38 shots he faced in the 4-1 triumph over the Warriors. Merrimack spoiled the rookie's shutout bid with 6:21 left in regulation.
Over his last five starts, Maguire has posted a 0.99 GAA and a .966 save percentage thanks to a pair of shutouts. He ranks seventh nationally in save percentage (.938) and ninth in GAA (1.83). Both marks are tops amongst Hockey East goalies.
This is the second weekly honor for Maguire this season as he was named the league's Rookie of the Week on Nov. 26 after shutting out St. Lawrence in his first home start.
