BOSTON - Boston University men's basketball third-year head coach Joe Jones has announced the signing of Cheddi Mosely during the early signing period for the 2014-15 season. A 6-foot-3, 175-pound versatile guard, Mosely will join the Terriers from St. Anthony's High School out of Jersey City, N.J.
"We are very excited to welcome Cheddi into our family here at BU," said Jones, who was tabbed this past summer the second toughest to recruit against at the mid-major level by ESPN.com. "He comes from one of the best high school programs in the country, and he also had a very successful summer on the AAU circuit. His skill level, versatility and basketball IQ will be a great asset to our team. Most importantly, he is a young man of character who will exemplify the values of our BU program."
Ranked as the state's No. 7 prospect in the Class of 2014 according to NJHoops.com, Mosely received over 15 offers, including letters from Buffalo, Holy Cross and Quinnipiac. A very good shooter, he averaged 10.3 ppg and 2.5 rpg playing for the NJ Playaz AAU team this summer in the Nike EYBL. He previously helped lead St. Anthony's to a 28-2 record and final NJ Hoops ranking of second in the state.
St. Anthony's is a well-respected high school program in the basketball world with four of Mosely's former teammates heading to UCLA, Oregon State, Rutgers and Temple, respectively.
Off to their best start since 2000-01, the 2-0 Terriers will next visit No. 19 UConn on Sunday (Nov. 17) for a 12 p.m. tip-off.
