New Brunswick, N.J. -
The Boston University women's rowing team will open their 2014 spring season in New Brunswick, N.J. Friday night on the Raritan River when they take on Rutgers and Michigan State at 6 p.m.
The Terriers last competed on November 16th at the Foot of the Charles Regatta. After a long winter of off-season training, during which the Terriers traveled to Melbourne, Fla. for a week in January, the team was finally able to get back on the Charles River on March 18, the latest anyone in the program could remember.
“This was the longest the Charles was frozen in decades,” said women’s rowing head coach Stacey Rippetoe. “But most of the teams we compete against are in a similar situation as we are.”
After Friday's race, the Terriers will return home the DeWolfe Boathouse to face off against URI, Dartmouth and Rutgers again on April 5th.
