CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Freshmen Christian Carson-Banister and Sam Talkow of the Boston University men's lacrosse team each earned weekly honors from the Patriot League, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Both Terriers had career days in a 16-11 loss against third-ranked and 2013 national champion Duke on Sunday at Nickerson Field. Carson-Banister was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week after he made 25 saves, which is the most of any Division I goalkeeper in a single game this season. The Dallas, Texas, native stopped eight shots in the first quarter to keep BU within one, 4-3, after 15 minutes. Carson-Banister also collected four ground balls.
Talkow was tabbed as Patriot League Rookie of the Week after a terrific day at the faceoff X. He won a career-high 16 draws against Brendan Fowler, one of the top faceoff men in the country, and also collected 11 ground balls, the most of anyone on Sunday. In addition Talkow tallied a career-high three goals, including the opening goal six seconds into the proceedings.
This is the second time that Talkow has been recognized as Patriot League Rookie of the Week while Carson-Banister earned a weekly award for the first time in his collegiate career.
