The Boston University Department of Athletics is proud to announce an exclusive partnership with Stretch Internet to provide free live audio streaming for all men's ice hockey and men's basketball regular-season and postseason contests.
Beginning with the 2014-15 men's ice hockey season opener on Oct. 10, fans from all over the world can get the online radio call via Stretch Internet in a customized, user-friendly Game Central portal designed for BU Athletics. Stretch supports all iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android devices so fans can access live and archived audio whenever and wherever they can connect.
The portal will also include women's basketball broadcasts from WTBU, BU's student radio station, in addition to select women's ice hockey games.
"One of our goals is to allow fans, family and alumni to connect with BU Athletics no matter where they are," said Drew Marrochello, BU's newly appointed director of athletics. "In this era of smartphones and tablets, Stretch allows us to provide Terrier Nation with instant access to our audio broadcasts. We look forward to starting this partnership."
In the past, conflicts with hockey and basketball broadcasts on terrestrial radio caused tape delays for listeners. Stretch eliminates this issue, giving its clients the ability to stream multiple events at once. All broadcasts will remained archived on the portal for the entire 2014-15 school year.
Bernie Corbett, former BU hockey manager and a 1983 graduate, will celebrate his 30th season as the play-by-play voice for Terrier hockey and will be joined in the booth once again by 1987-88 BU co-captain Tom Ryan, who is in his 22nd season as the color commentator.
ESPN national radio host and 1978 BU graduate Doug Brown returns for his 24th year as the voice of BU basketball. Now in his seventh season as color commentator, 2007 graduate Brian Maurer will join Brown courtside for the majority of the Terriers' games.
