WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Senior Sarah Lefort and sophomore Victoria Bach of the Boston University women’s ice hockey team were named Hockey East Co-Players of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
The two linemates were both outstanding in a weekend sweep of Merrimack. Bach collected her first collegiate hat trick on Friday night in a 5-1 road win and then followed that with an assist on Saturday in a 4-2 home triumph. She was tied for the lead in goals among Hockey East players during the weekend and only Lefort had more points than Bach did over that three-day stretch.
Lefort recorded back-to-back three-assist games over the weekend to help lead the Terriers to their two victories. She led the nation in assists (6) and tied for the NCAA lead in points (6) over the weekend. Lefort also factored on both game-winning goals against Merrimack and generated 10 shots on goal in the sweep.
Bach now has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points while Lefort also has nine assists in addition to four goals for 13 points. The duo will return to the ice on Saturday when the Terriers face Cornell as part of the Windjammer Classic in Burlington, Vermont.
