NCAA Tournament Bracket
BOSTON-Following the program's third straight Patriot League championship, the Boston University women's soccer team will head to St. Johns for the NCAA Tournament First Round on Saturday (Nov. 14), the NCAA announced on Monday evening. The match time is set for 7 p.m.
The Terriers (12-5-3) make their third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and 10th in 11 years, after successfully defending their Patriot League crown, which they have not relinquished since joining the league in 2013.
No. 22/15 St. John's comes into the NCAA Tournament after losing to Butler in the Big East Tournament semifinal round to eventual champion Butler.
This will be the first time the Terriers have not played a Boston-area school in the first round since 2009 when they played at UConn. It's also the first time BU has played an NCAA First Round game outside of New England since 2008 when the Terriers played USC at Brigham Young.
This is the first-ever meeting between the Terriers and Red Storm, a rare occurrence for BU when it comes to Northeast matchups.
The Terriers are 4-12 all-time in NCAA Tournament games with their last win coming in 2013 at home against local foe Harvard.
BU comes off its first-ever undefeated season in the Patriot League, finishing with an 8-0-1 record in conference action. After claiming the PL regular-season title, the Terriers hosted the tournament for the first time and became the first host school in six years to also win the championship. BU is also the first team since 1999 to win three straight Patriot League titles.
