During Saturday's men's hockey game, the BU Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted their 11th annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit local pediatric charities.
Teddy Bears were sold at the game for $10 each with all proceeds raised to be donated to local charities. Fans were also allowed to bring new stuffed animals to the game to throw onto the ice during the second intermission.
In all, $1,033 was raised and over 350 stuffed animals were collected and will be donated to Boston Medical Center and Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton.
"The Teddy Bear Toss is a great event every year," said SAAC treasurer and member of the Boston University men's tennis team Jake De Vries who helped organize the event. "The fans look forward to it and we all enjoy taking part in such a fun event for such a great cause. Our student-athletes are looking forward to delivering the teddy bears to the Boston Medical Center and Franciscan Hospital and putting a smile on the faces of hundreds of deserving children this holiday season."
On Sunday, SAAC member began to donate the teddy beers collected to local hospitals when they visited the Franciscan Hospital for Children in Allston and donated the stuffed animals while visiting with children.
