NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Boston University women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-6 decision at Yale on Wednesday evening. The Terriers (4-5, 2-1 PL) snapped their four-game win streak against the Bulldogs (5-5) with the loss.

Mallory Collins led the team with two goals, both on free position attempts, while Jenny Thompson scored her first goal of the season.

Kelsey Marafioti, Ally Adams and Taylor Hardison each added a strike of their own to the BU tally.

Caroline Meegan made five stops before being relieved by Christine Laible in the second half, who made her second appearance of the season and recorded her first career saves.

Despite the score discrepancy, the stat lines came out fairly even, with turnovers at 18 apiece and shots at 26-23, in favor of Yale. The biggest differential was possessions, which was highlighted by the Bulldogs clearing the ball six more times on eight more chances than BU.

Yale opened the game by scoring two goals in under three minutes to gain a lead it wouldn't relinquish for the remainder of the game. The Terriers scored soon after the Bulldogs' second strike to make it a 2-1 game but it would be the closest BU got to Yale over the course of the contest.

The Bulldogs scored the next three goals to pull away from the Terriers and take a 5-1 advantage which would be too much for BU to overcome.

BU fought back to make it a three-goal game at halftime but the Terriers were unable to net a point for nearly all of the second half until Thompson scored with six minutes left on a free position opportunity.

The Terriers scored two more but Yale's five-straight goals to open the second stanza proved to tall of a task for BU to overcome and the Bulldogs came away with a 14-6 victory.

BU is back in action on Saturday when the Terriers host Lafayette at 1 p.m. on Nickerson Field.
