The Boston University Department of Athletics is proud to honor the 100th anniversary of the opening of Braves Field, the home of MLB's Boston Braves that was built in 1915 where BU's Nickerson Field stands today. BU purchased the field in 1953 after the Braves moved to Milwaukee and turned it into a premier multi-sport venue.

For the next 40 days, BU will unveil one memorable Braves/Nickerson Field moment each day leading up to the BU Alumni Weekend event at Nickerson on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The current home of BU soccer and lacrosse, Nickerson Field has also served as the home venue for field hockey and football in addition to numerous club teams and intramurals. Two current NFL organizations - the Washington Redskins and the New England Patriots - both played their first professional home games on the grounds. Professional teams from the USFL (Boston Breakers), MLL (Boston Cannons), WUSA (Boston Breakers) and NASL (Boston Minutemen) have also called Nickerson home.
