CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
For the second time this season, junior Allie Renzi
of the Boston University field hockey team has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Renzi was a key contributor in the Terriers' 2-1 victory at Bucknell on Saturday. The junior midfielder scored her fifth goal of the season, sending home a rebound off a corner with 15 minutes left in regulation to give BU a 2-0 lead. That tally proved to be the difference as the Bison got one back before BU left Lewisburg with the win.
In addition, Renzi helped the Terriers control the midfield and limit the Bison's scoring chances. Bucknell was held to a season-low three shots on the day.
This is the second Defensive Player of the Week Award for Renzi this year. She also received the accolade on Aug. 30 after helping the Terriers win the Wildcat Classic.
Renzi and the Terriers return to action on Saturday (Oct. 15) when they host Lehigh at 1 p.m.
