Competing in his final home match, senior Stefan Lemire rolled to a No. 2 singles win, as the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Illinois State Sunday afternoon at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
The Redbirds (7-9) won all three doubles matches by two games apiece to grab a 1-0 lead and then captured five singles points, including two in straight sets, to defeat the Terriers (6-8).
Lemire came up just short with junior Miguel Cepeda at No. 2 doubles, 7-5, and quickly rebounded with a dominating 6-1, 6-3 victory against Jakub Eisner.
Junior Lucas Bombonatti (#3) and freshman Satyajit Simhadri (#4) both rallied from a set down to force a third but eventually fell to the Redbirds.
Prior to the start of the match, BU also honored senior Josh Hurd alongside Lemire.
The Terriers will next travel to Skidmore on Saturday (March 26) for a 1 p.m. start time.
