ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Boston University women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-6 decision at Navy on Saturday afternoon at Navy Marine Corps Stadium after a slow offensive start.

Despite a strong showing by Caroline Meegan and Christine Laible in net throughout the first half, combining to make six stops, the Terriers (7-7, 4-3 PL) failed to score and went into halftime scoreless against the Midshipmen (9-5, 4-2 PL). Meegan finished the day with 12 total saves on 31 shots faced.

The Terriers were led by Taylor Hardison and Mallory Collins who each scored two goals including a free position shot. Mickenzie Larivee and Kelly Mathews also scored goals on the afternoon.

Statistically, BU and Navy were evenly matched throughout the game, with the Mids edging the Terriers on shots, 33-31 and BU winning more draw controls, 11-8. Both teams also kept turnovers to a minimum as Navy committed just six and the Terriers finished with 11.

Navy's defense shut down the Terriers for the entire first half, a feat that hasn't happened since 2007 when BU was held scoreless in the second period by Yale. The Mids used this momentum to score six goals before halftime.

The second half was much more even and the Terriers came out looking much better on attack. BU went on a three-goal run early in the period to try and make up for some of its deficit but ultimately the Terriers were only able to keep pace with the Midshipmen and couldn't overcome the halftime disadvantage. Collins scored two goals in the early run to try and spark some momentum for the Terriers.

Ultimately the teams tied in the second half, each scoring six goals apiece to reach a final score of 12-6.

The Terriers return home to finish the regular season, first against Holy Cross on Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. on Nickerson Field. The game is set to air live on the Patriot League Network.
