NEW ORLEANS -
Sophomore Paul Luevano
and junior Alexander Seal
of the Boston University men's cross country team were both named to the USTFCCCA All-Region Team.
Both harriers finished in the top 20 of Friday's NCAA Northeast Regional. Luevano crossed the line in fifth place while Seal secured 19th place. To earn All-Region honors, a runner must finish in the top 25 individually at one of the nine regional sites.
This is the second straight year that Luevano has been selected as an All-Region honoree, while Seal garnered the recognition for the first time in his three-year cross country career. Luevano finished 17th at last year's NCAA Northeast Regional. Seal, a two-time First Team All-Patriot League runner, capped his 2017 campaign with a fourth top-20 finish of the season.
Luevano's fifth-place performance also clinched an at-large spot for the 2017 NCAA Championships on Nov. 18 in Louisville, Kentucky. The 2017 Patriot League Champion was one of four runners in the Northeast Region to receive an at-large invitation to Saturday's championship event. Luevano is the first Terrier male to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Rich Peters did so in 2012.
