CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –
After nearly averaging a double-double in a pair of games, Boston University women's basketball freshman Nia Irving
has been named The Rock Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
With the announcement, Irving becomes the first Terrier to be tabbed the top rookie twice in a season since BU joined the PL in the summer of the 2013.
Previously recognized on Jan. 3, she recorded nine points and a season-tying 12 rebounds to help the Terriers defeat Colgate, 65-51. She followed up with 10 points and seven boards in a loss to PL leader Bucknell.
The Fairfield, Maine native averaged 9.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg and shot 50.0 percent from the field, as BU clinched its first opening-round bye.
Currently 9-6 in the PL with three regular season games remaining, the Terriers will next host Army on Wednesday (Feb. 22) at 7 p.m.
