- Senior Grace Anderson
of the Boston University women's swimming and diving team has been named the first Patriot League Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in program history, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Anderson capped a dominant season with a standout performance at the Patriot League Championships, setting two new individual and one relay school record while collecting two gold and three bronze medals at the four-day meet. The Laguna Beach, California native led off the 800 free relay with a record-setting split in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:46.25 as the relay squad set a new school record with a time of 7:14.01. Anderson followed by winning the 500 free with another record time of 4:45.91 and earned her second individual title by taking the 1650 free with a time of 16:22.58.
Anderson also earned bronze medals in the 200 free and as part of the 400 free relay team. The senior contributed 56 points for the Terriers, the second-highest individual point total at the championships, and closed her career with second All-Patriot League First Team selection and third overall.
Anderson, a psychology major who holds a 3.89 cumulative GPA, will work at the Boston University Center for Anxiety & Related Disorders following graduation. Anderson earned her second selection to the Academic All-League Team and is a three-team Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member.
