PINEHURST, N.C. -
The Boston University golf team continued its spring season at the three-day Pinehurst Intercollegiate, which concluded on Friday at Pinehurst No. 8.
BU finished fourth in the eight-team field with a 54-hole score of 984 (323-334-327). Eastern Kentucky won with a score of 944. The Terriers were only 11 shots back of second-place Richmond.
Sophomore Zhangcheng Guo
led the Terriers with a score of 244 (79-85-80) to finish tied for eighth. Senior Phyllis Tang
also fired a final-round 80 and finished just one stroke back of Guo with a total of 245 (84-81-80). Junior Megan Carter
also placed in the top 20 after she carded a 249 (80-83-86) to finish tied for 19th. Sophomore Abby Parsons
was 22nd with a score of 253 (80-85-86) while freshman Katerina Doleckova
only played the final round and recorded an 81.
BU led the field in par-3 scoring at plus-14, paced by Tang and Carter who were both a tournament-best plus-2 on the par-3s. The Terriers also made 15 birdies during the week and were second in par-4 scoring, 20 strokes better than the third-place team in that category.
The Terriers will return to competition on March 24 when they begin the three-day Babs Steffens Invitational in Daytona Beach, Florida.
