BOSTON - The No. 10 Boston University men's rowing team will conclude their spring duel season this Saturday when they travel to Baraboo, Wisc. to face old rival Wisconsin for the Jablonic Cup on Saturday. Racing on Devil's Lake is set to begin with the varsity eight race for the Jablonic Cup at 10:30 a.m. EST and will conclude at 11 a.m. EST with the third varsity eight race.
Also on Saturday, the BU 4+ will stay at home to take on Northeastern at 8 a.m. on the Charles River.
The No. 10 ranked Terriers varsity eight will be seeking their sixth-straight Jablonic Cup win over the No. 11 Badgers, with BU's win streak dating back to 2013. Overall, Wisconsin has won 28 of the 36 races between the schools going back to 1948, with the Terriers victorious the last five times the teams have met.
The Jablonic Cup is named in honor of the longest serving coach in the history of the Wisconsin men's rowing program, Randy "Jabo" Jablonic, who was head coach of the Badgers from 1969 to 1997. He was also an oarsman at Wisconsin, graduating in 1960.
Last year, the Terriers 1V won a back-and-forth contest in which BU came from behind over the final 100 meters to pull out a dramatic victory. The BU 2V8 and 3V8 were also victories last year as BU swept Wisconsin on the Charles River.
After racing Saturday, BU will next head to Worcester, Mass. for the Eastern Sprints on May 13.
To follow Saturday's racing action live, a radio broadcast of the event can be heard by dialing (712) 432-4448 on your phone approximately 20 minutes before the first race.
