After helping lead the Boston University women's tennis team to its fifth-straight Patriot League tournament semifinal appearance and first win over perennial Ivy League power Harvard in nine years, senior Iryna Kostirko
and junior Remi Ramos
have both earned All-Conference accolades, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
A native of Mississauga, Canada, Kostirko wrapped up her collegiate career with a third first team honor and fourth overall All-PL award. She collected 16 singles wins this year and went 10-11 at line 1 with wins against the top players from Harvard, Maryland, Memphis, Army West Point, Navy and Lehigh. In doubles, she earned nine wins at line 2 with freshman Emily Kim
. Some of their key victories came against Brown, UConn, Army and Lehigh.
Named to the second team for her second All-PL award, Ramos collected 11 wins at line 2 singles. During the regular season, the Parkland, Florida, native posted impressive wins against Boston College, Harvard, Navy, Lehigh, UConn, Utah State and Liberty. Back in the fall as the Patriot League's representative at the Oracle ITA Masters Tournament, she won a set against nationally-ranked players from Winthrop (#55) and Idaho (#71) before ultimately coming up just short in hard-fought contests. She also earned 12 doubles victories at line 1 with freshman Lily Burchell
, collecting key wins against Brown, Harvard, Utah State, Memphis and Liberty.
