Thompson Named PL Offensive Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Amy Thompson of the Boston University women's soccer team was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Thompson was the central figure in the Terriers' comeback win over Lafayette on Saturday, as she scored in both the 79th minute and the 89th minute to erase a 1-0 deficit and ensure BU opened its conference campaign with a victory. Her winner, a wonderful strike from 20 yards out, came with 1:15 remaining in regulation. Both of Thompson's shot attempts on Saturday found the back of net.

This is the first Patriot League weekly award for Thompson, who joined the Terriers prior to the beginning of last season and made her BU debut this fall. Thompson has appeared in four games this season.

BU will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 22, when the Terriers conclude a three-game homestand against Colgate. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
