Terriers, No. 5/4 Northeastern to Meet in Beanpot on Tuesday Night

Meeting for the fourth time this season, the Boston University women's ice hockey team will travel to Northeastern to face the No. 4/5 Huskies in the third-place game of the 43rd Women's Beanpot.
BEANPOT TIDBITS
- This is a rematch of the 2020 championship game, which Northeastern won in double overtime after the Terriers forced a 3-3 tie with a last-minute goal by Sammy Davis.
- The Terriers are 9-16-6 in Beanpot games since becoming a varsity program in 2005.
- BU has won two Beanpot championships - one in 2019 and another in 1981 as a club team.
CURRENT TERRIERS IN THE BEANPOT
- Seven current Terriers have recorded a point in the Beanpot.
- Lacey Martin lit the lamp in her Beanpot debut last week against Harvard, on a goal assisted by first-time point getters Haylee Blinkhorn and Julia Nearis.
- Mackenna Parker scored a goal as a freshman in 2019 while Courtney Correia, Kaleigh Donnelly and Nadia Mattivi each recorded one assist in the 2020 tournament.
- Goaltender Kate Stuart made a career-high 45 saves against the Crimson last week in her first-ever Beanpot appearance.
- Senior Courtney Correia leads BU in both goals (11) and points (21).
- Junior Julia Nearis is tops on the squad with 12 assists and is tied with senior Mackenna Parker (9g, 7a) for second on the Terriers with 16 points.
- Parker scored the game-tying shorthanded goal in a 1-1 draw against UConn this past Friday.
- BU is 32-25-9 all time against Northeastern, including an 11-12-3 record at Matthews Arena.
- Ten of the last 12 matchups have been decided by two goals or fewer, including eight of those 12 resulting in either a 3-3 tie or a 2-1 scoreline.
- The Terriers will look to even this year's regular-season series at 2-2; BU won the first matchup, 2-1, on Oct. 8 before the Huskies took the next two on Jan. 15 (3-1) and Jan. 21 (6-3).
- Northeastern bounced back from two straight losses, including a 3-1 defeat in its Beanpot opener against Boston College, with a 5-0 win at Merrimack on Friday.
- The Huskies are without Alina Mueller, who is at the Olympics with Switzerland.
- Senior Maureen Murphy leads Northeastern with 35 points thanks to a team-best 17 goals as well as 18 assists.
- Chloe Aurard (15g, 17a) is second on the squad with 32 points, while Skylar Fontaine leads NU with 26 assists.
- Goaltender Aerin Frankel, who was pulled after one period of work in the last BU-Northeastern matchup, is 17-3-1 this year with a 1.04 GAA and a .957 save percentage to go along with eight shutouts.
- Following Tuesday's tilt, BU will head to Vermont for a pair of games with the Catamounts on Feb. 11 and 12.
