CALGARY, Alta. - Three members of the Boston University women's ice hockey team were invited to Canada’s National Women’s Development Team selection camp that will take place in Calgary on Aug. 6-16, as announced by Hockey Canada on Wednesday.
Rising sophomores Victoria Bach and Rebecca Leslie will join rising senior Sarah Lefort on the 43-player roster. The three Terriers will compete for a spot on the 23-player squad that will travel to Lake Placid, New York, for a three-game series against the United States’ Women’s Under-22 Select Team on Aug. 19-22.
Bach and Lefort last suited up for Team Canada at the 2015 Nations Cup, where they each secured a gold medal. Leslie was teammates with Bach when Canada won gold at the 2014 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship. Lefort, Bach and Leslie finished second, fourth and fifth, respectively, in scoring for the Terriers in 2014-15. The trio combined for 57 goals last season, with Lefort and Bach each eclipsing the 20-goal mark.
Following the series, Hockey Canada scouts, along with the team’s coaching staff, will continue to evaluate players with their club teams during the 2015-16 season, in preparation for selecting the Canadian team that will compete at the 2016 Nations Cup in Germany next January, as well as possible invites to camps and events with Canada’s National Women’s Team.
