EASTON, Pa. - Thanks to a third-place finish from freshman
Paul Luevano, the Boston University men's cross country team finished third at the Patriot League Championship on Saturday at Lafayette.
Luevano continued a stellar rookie campaign with his fourth top-three finish in as many races. He now has two victories and a pair of third-place performances this season. The Los Angeles native crossed the line in 24:58.6 and was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Meet.
Sophomore
Alexander Seal, last year's PL Rookie of the Meet, finished seventh on Saturday with a time of 25:06.7. BU, behind those two top-10 efforts, the Terriers took third as a team with 83 points, just four behind second-place Army West Point. Navy won with 23 points. The Terriers also claimed a point in the Turnpike Trophy series, easily besting seventh-place Holy Cross.
Four other Terriers finished in the top 30 on Saturday. Freshmen
Brett Davidson (25:46.5) and
Greg Pelose (25:46.9) were 24th and 25th, respectively. Senior
Mitch Russo was not far behind in 27th (25:48.7) to round out the scoring while junior
Cullin Burdett finished 30th (25:53.7).
Sophomore
Johnny Kemps was 36th (26:02.4), followed by seniors
Matti Groll (26:18.1) and
Ethan Homan (26:28.7) in 42nd and 45th, respectively. Sophomore
Zachary Prescott (26:53.7), sophomore
Ian Anderson (27:19.3) and junior
Liam O'Connell (28:14.3).
BU will next be in action on Friday, Nov. 11, at the NCAA Northeast Regional in the Bronx.
