BOSTON - Highlighted by nine first place finishes over three days, the Boston University women's track & field team won the 2016 Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championship, which concluded Sunday at the Track and Tennis Center. The championship was the program's second Patriot League indoor title in three seasons.

The Terriers were led by several remarkable performances. Senior Christy Wood won two events on Sunday, highlighted by her conference record run in the 200m dash. She posted a time of 24.12 seconds in that event. Wood also won the 60m dash with a time of 7.65 seconds and finished second in the 400m dash (55.03). Her time in the 400m dash beat the previous conference record.

Junior Toria Levy joined Wood as a two-time winner, first winning the 60m hurdles (8.73) before taking first place in the 500m dash. Her time of 1:12.81 in the 500m dash is a personal best and was nearly two tenths off of the conference record. Senior Jade Paul was right behind Levy with a second-place time of 1:13.20.

Four other Terriers followed Levy in the 60m dash, as junior Ally Saccone (8.90), sophomore Tehya Noell (8.97), senior Sophie Jancsurak (9.06) and freshman Kennedy Jones (9.09) were fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

The Terriers went 1-2 in the triple jump, with freshman Lovie Burleson setting a new Patriot League record with her first-place leap of 12.57 meters (41' 3"). Classmate Kennedy Jones also broke the previous conference standard with her second-place mark of 12.29 meters (40'4"). Burleson also won the long jump on Saturday.

Senior Shelby Stableford had a huge meet. After winning the 5,000m run on Saturday, Stableford kept the Terriers ahead of Bucknell with a pressure packed second-place time of 9:50.44 in the 3,000m run in the meet's second-to-last event.

In the final event of the day with the pressure on and leading by only five points over Bucknell, the Terriers iced the championship with a record breaking performance in the 4x400 relay. Tehya Noell, Djenne Parris, Jordan Coverson and Jade Paul, left no doubt who the winners would be by setting a PL record time of 3:41.70 on the way to a first place finish and a Patriot League Championship.

The win in the 4x400m relay gave Terriers 183 team points, 7 better than second-place finisher Bucknell (176).

After the meet, the Terriers won three Patriot League individual awards. Boston University director of track and field Robyne Johnson was named Patriot League Women's Coach of the Year. Toria Levy was named Female Track Athlete of the Year and Lovie Burleson was named Rookie of the Year.
