Men's Basketball to Play Exhibition at Vermont for Hurricane Relief

October 19, 2017

BOSTON, Mass. – To continue helping with hurricane relief efforts, the Boston University men's basketball team will play an exhibition game at former America East rival Vermont on Friday, Oct. 27.

The first meeting between the two schools since 2013 will tip off at 7 p.m. with proceeds benefiting hurricane relief efforts. Fans will be able to purchase tickets with a minimum $5 donation and will have the opportunity to donate more at the time of their purchase of up to $20 per ticket.  For more information, fans can contact Vermont's ticket office at athletic.tickets@uvm.edu or call (802) 656-4410.

"The recent hurricanes have affected so many people in the United States and the Caribbean," said head coach Joe Jones. "This exhibition game will be a tremendous opportunity for us to remain involved with the relief efforts. Vermont is a former America East foe of ours and Coach (John) Becker is a close friend of mine, so it will be great to reconnect with them while more importantly helping raise money and awareness for those directly impacted by the devastating storms."

BU earlier in the fall was one of many schools across the country to mail a large care package of clothes and shoes to help support a relief program spearheaded by Houston men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson.

The Terriers will enter the new season as the No. 2 selection in the Patriot League preseason poll, while the Catamounts are the defending America East champions. BU leads the all-time series, 55-44, in a rivalry that dates back to 1921-22, after claiming a 64-59 win in its last visit to Patrick Gym on Feb. 12, 2013.
