The second-ranked Boston University men's ice hockey team hits the road for the first time this season to face No. 14 Quinnipiac on Sunday. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
It will be the Terriers' second consecutive game against an ECAC opponent following their 4-1 home win over No. 16/NR Union in the season opener last Saturday.
The Terriers have won both of their two previous meetings against the Bobcats. In the first-ever meeting on Dec. 12, 2015, Quinnipiac scored an early power-play goal but hasn't scored another goal against BU since. In that first game, which took place in Hamden, BU posted a 4-1 victory to upset the top-ranked and previously unbeaten Bobcats. Last season at Agganis, Jake Oettinger stopped all 22 shots he faced and the Terriers scored once in each period to take a 3-0 win.
Quinnipiac, which was picked second behind Harvard in both the ECAC preseason coaches' and media polls, opened its season on Friday with a 1-1 draw at No. 13/NR Boston College. The Bobcats will look to rebound after missing the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 2012.
Quinnipiac returns six of its top seven scorers from last year's balanced offensive attack. Landon Smith is back for his senior year after recording a team-best 29 points (11g, 18a) as a junior. Juniors Craig Martin (11g, 16a) and Chase Priskie (7g, 19a) tallied 27 and 26 points, respectively, last season.
In goal, junior Andrew Shortridge is back after earning the majority of the starts last season and posting a .920 save percentage and a 2.08 goals-against average.
Sophomore Patrick Harper got off to a good start with two goals and the primary assist on the game-winner in last weekend's victory over the Dutchmen. Classmate Dante Fabbro provided the go-ahead tally to break a 1-1 draw and freshman Shane Bowers capped the scoring with an empty-netter for his first collegiate goal.
