BOSTON – Highlighted by a trip to national runner-up Ohio State, the Boston University men's lacrosse team announced its 2018 schedule on Tuesday afternoon.
BU will host six games at Nickerson Field as part of its 2018 slate. Fans can purchase season tickets for both men's and women's lacrosse online through GoTerriers.com by clicking here, or by calling the Agganis Arena ticket office at 617-353-GOBU, then choosing option 2. In addition, fans can buy tickets in person at the Agganis Arena ticket office.
The Terriers will face five teams that played in last year's NCAA Tournament, including four squads that advanced to the quarterfinals. In addition to a trip to Columbus to face reigning national finalist Ohio State, BU will trek to Air Force, Bryant and Loyola Maryland. For the second straight year, the Terriers will travel to Bethpage, New York, to face off against Duke.
"It has been our goal as a program to increase the competitiveness of our schedule year after year, and this year will be no different," head coach Ryan Polley said. "This season's non-conference schedule is by far the toughest we have faced in our program's short history and I'm confident it will prepare us for the rigors of Patriot League play, which is always super competitive."
As they have for each of the past two seasons, the Terriers will open the schedule against BIG EAST finalist Providence. That game will take place at Nickerson Field on Feb. 3. BU has won each of its last two openers against the Friars, including an 8-7 double-overtime victory last year in Providence.
Following its Feb. 10 tilt against the Buckeyes, BU will host Dartmouth on Feb. 20 before opening Patriot League play on Feb. 24 at home against Navy. The Terriers will finish the month at Bryant on Feb. 27.
Four of the Terriers' six March contests are on the road, beginning on March 3 at Air Force. After returning home to host Colgate (March 10), the Terriers will travel to Bucknell (March 17), Harvard (March 20) and Lafayette (March 24).
"We're looking forward to our trip to Air Force," Polley said. "With the game taking place during the start of spring break, we'll be able to remain in Colorado for an extra couple days and enjoy some time together as a team."
The Terriers will battle Lehigh on March 31 as part of the third annual Lax-a-Palooza. They will then close their home regular-season schedule on April 7 against Army West Point in a rematch of last year's Patriot League semifinals.
BU will trek to Loyola Maryland (April 14) and Holy Cross (April 20) prior to the conference tournament, which starts on Tuesday, April 24. The Patriot League semifinals and championship will take place on April 27 and 29, respectively.
On May 6, BU will return to Long Island for the second straight year to face Duke. It will be the fifth straight year that the Terriers have closed the regular season against the Blue Devils.
