Leslie, Bach to Represent Canada at Nations Cup
December 11, 2017 | Women's Ice Hockey
This is the second straight year that the standout skaters have earned spots on Canada's Nations Cup Roster. This year's tournament will take place in Füssen, Germany, from Jan. 3-6, 2018. The Nations Cup - previously hosted under the names Air Canada Cup, MLP Cup, and Meco Cup – features Canada's National Women's Development Team as well as national teams from Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland this year for four days of competition.
Leslie and Bach enter the tournament as the nation's most dynamic duo. Since Nov. 10, they have combined for an NCAA-best 27 goals and 25 assists for 52 points. Both players are in the midst of All-American seasons. Bach leads the country with 23 goals and is third among all skaters with 40 points. Leslie is fourth in both points (36) and assists (21) this season and has notched at least two points in each of the last nine games, the longest multi-point streak in the nation.
Canada will open the 2018 Nations Cup against Finland on Jan. 3. The schedule also has the team facing Russia on Jan. 4 before the tournament culminates with the gold-medal game on Saturday, Jan. 6. A pre-tournament game is also planned for Dec. 30 against Austria.
