Keller Signs Entry-Level Contract with Arizona Coyotes
March 26, 2017 | Men's Ice Hockey
After a standout freshman season with the Boston University men's ice hockey team, forward Clayton Keller has signed a entry-level contract with the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League.
The Hockey East Rookie of the Year and a Hockey East Second Team All-Star, Keller led the Terriers in points (45), goals (21) and plus-minus (+15) while tying for the team lead in assists (24) with fellow rookie Patrick Harper.
Keller scored at least one point in all but one of his final 26 contests as a Terrier and that run began with a 15-game point streak, which was the longest by a BU player in 21 years. His 45 points on the year were the second-most by a BU rookie since 1990.
Arizona selected Keller seventh overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. A native of St. Louis suburb Swansea, Ill., Keller is expected to make a hometown NHL debut on Monday night when the Coyotes visit the St. Louis Blues.
