BOSTON – Highlighted by a visit from defending national champion Denver and the first-ever meetings with Minnesota State, the Boston University men's ice hockey team and Agganis Arena have announced the home schedule for the 2017-18 season. The 18 home dates feature four non-conference games, 12 Hockey East contests and a pair of exhibitions.
For the first time since the 1992-93 season, the Terriers will kick off their schedule with a regular-season home contest, as Union makes its second trip to Agganis in as many seasons on Saturday, Sept. 30. It will mark the first September contest in BU's 96-season history. The following evening, BU will play its traditional exhibition against a Canadian university in a match-up with Prince Edward Island.
Two-time WCHA champion Minnesota State will make its first appearance in the city of Boston for a two-game set on Family & Friends Weekend (Oct. 13 & 14).
BU's Hockey East schedule kicks off the following weekend with a game against Connecticut on Oct. 20 before the Pioneers of Denver make their fourth trip to Jack Parker Rink on Oct. 27. The Terriers have won each of the three previous meetings with DU at Agganis.
November brings three Hockey East opponents to Agganis beginning with Providence and Northeastern on Nov. 3 & 4, respectively, and concluding with New Hampshire on Nov. 11.
The final two home games of the fall semester will be against the teams BU shared the Hockey East regular-season crown with last season as archrival Boston College makes the short trip on Dec. 2 before a tilt with UMass Lowell on Dec. 9 will be the final contest before the holiday break.
Four weeks later, the Terriers will get back to action with an exhibition contest against the U.S. National Under-18 Team on Jan. 5 before hosting Maine the next night.
A second home game with Providence will take place on Jan. 13 and Merrimack will drive down to the city for a contest exactly one week later. In between the Beanpot games, BU will welcome Massachusetts to Agganis on Feb. 9. The final weekend of the regular-season (Feb. 23 & 24) will feature a two-game home series with Vermont.
Game times and the remainder of the 2017-18 schedule will be announced later this month.
