BOSTON - Highlighted by games against two of last year's Frozen Four participants, the Boston University women's ice hockey team announced its 2017-18 schedule on Tuesday.
For the first time in program history, BU will play a pair of games in Virginia. The Terriers will face Minnesota State and 2017 national runner-up Wisconsin on Nov. 24 and 25 at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia, the practice facility for the Washington Capitals.
Additional non-conference games include a trip to Princeton for a two-game set with the Tigers (Dec. 30-31), a home date with Brown (Nov. 28) and a trek to Yale on Dec. 7. As usual, the first two Tuesdays in February are reserved for the 40th annual Women's Beanpot, hosted on Feb. 6 and 13 at Boston College. The Terriers will skate against Harvard in the opening round before facing either Northeastern or BC the following week.
The opening weekend of the season features an exhibition game against Concordia on Sept. 22. BU will then host Merrimack in the first Hockey East game of the season the next day (Sept. 23). Seven of the Terriers' first 10 games will be at home, with eight of those 10 tilts taking place against league foes. Beginning with a two-game series at Vermont (Nov. 17-18), BU will be away from home for nine of its next 11 contests.
BU will remain local for the entire 2018 portion of the regular season, with no overnight trips scheduled. The Terriers will close the season with three of their final Hockey East games at home before the league quarterfinals begin on Feb. 23.
