BOSTON – With just over eight weeks left until the 2017-18 season commences, the Boston University men's ice hockey team has finalized its 36-game schedule.
Along with 18 home dates, the Terriers will play 12 Hockey East road games in addition to non-conference trips to Quinnipiac and Arizona State. In all, head coach David Quinn and his squad will face six teams that joined the Terriers in last year's NCAA Tournament.
For the sixth time, BU and Cornell will meet at Madison Square Garden for Red Hot Hockey on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. As usual, the final non-conference games of the regular season will take place at the Beanpot at TD Garden.
For the first time in the 96-season history of the BU program, the Terriers will play a game in September. BU will host Union on Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in one of two Division I games on opening night of the NCAA season.
As part of the home slate at Agganis Arena, the Terriers will host a pair of exhibitions, beginning with a match-up against Prince Edward Island on Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. For the rest of BU's home schedule, Friday games will start at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday contests will begin at 7 p.m.
BU will hit the road the following week with a ride to Hamden, Conn., to take on Quinnipiac on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m.
Two weekend trips will take place this season with the Terriers heading up to Maine for league games in both Orono (Nov. 17) and Portland (Nov. 18) before taking on Arizona State for the first time in a pair of contests in Glendale, Ariz., on Jan. 26-27. The journey to Arizona will be the team's longest since visiting Alaska to kick off the 2007-08 campaign.
The Terriers will take on Harvard in the late game of the opening round of the Beanpot on Monday, Feb. 5, in a rematch of last season's title game.
Game times may change when television packages are announced in the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to check GoTerriers.com throughout the year for the most up-to-date schedule.
