Women's Ice Hockey Finalizes 2017-18 Leadership Group
September 14, 2017 | Women's Ice Hockey
BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team announced on Tuesday that senior Victoria Bach, junior Sammy Davis and senior Erin O'Neil will serve as assistant captains for the 2017-18 season.
The talented trio will join senior captain Rebecca Leslie to round out the team's leadership group. This is the first time since the 2011-12 season that BU has boasted three assistant captains in addition to its captain.
"I'm happy to announce that Rebecca will be well supported by three fantastic student-athletes and leaders in Victoria, Erin and Sammy," Durocher said. "I know that all three will be anchors for our team, lead by example and be as hard-working as anybody on the squad. I look forward to working with them and having the type of leadership that we've come to expect at Boston University."
Bach enters this season as the team's top returning scorer, having notched 23 goals and 26 assists for 49 points a year ago. O'Neil has posted a 30-15-5 career record between the pipes for the Terriers, including a 4-3-2 mark last season. In two years with the Terriers, Davis has recorded 49 points (24g, 25a), including 23 points (7g, 16a) in 2016-17.
The Terriers will open their 2017-18 campaign with games on Sept. 22 and 23 at Walter Brown Arena. After hosting Concordia in an exhibition on Sept. 22 (7 p.m.), BU will welcome Merrimack to Walter Brown Arena on Sept. 23 (3 p.m.) for the regular-season opener.
