Scanlon Named Turnpike Trophy MVP, as Terriers Shut Down Holy Cross, 54-40
January 14, 2018 | Men's Basketball
WORCESTER, Mass. – After holding Colgate below 30 percent shooting, the Boston University men's basketball team rode another strong defensive performance to a 54-40 victory at Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon.
The Terriers (9-8, 5-1 PL) won their third straight and moved above .500 for the first time this season by holding the Crusaders (4-13, 1-5 PL) to 32.6 FG%. Holy Cross' 40 points were the fewest scored in a Patriot League game since the Crusaders suffered a 53-39 home loss to Army West Point 10 years ago on Jan. 16, 2008.
Sophomore Tyler Scanlon experienced déjà vu, as he claimed Turnpike Trophy MVP honors for the second consecutive game against the Crusaders by tallying eight points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. In last year's 71-68 OT victory at the Hart Center, he totaled 19 points with the help of five 3-pointers.
