Bach Named Top-10 Patty Kazmaier Finalist
February 22, 2018 | Women's Ice Hockey
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior Victoria Bach of the Boston University women's ice hockey team is a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, USA Hockey announced on Thursday.
Bach is the third Terrier to be selected as a top-10 finalist for the prestigious award, which is given annually to the top NCAA Division I women's ice hockey player. Three-time Olympic medalist Marie-Philip Poulin was a top-3 finalist in 2015, while Sarah Lefort ('16) was a top-10 nominee in 2014.
It has been a season to remember for Bach, who has rewritten the Terrier record book. She enters this weekend ranked second in the NCAA in goals (36) and third in the country with 61 points; those two marks are new single-season program records. Bach also scored her 100th career goal on Feb. 13, becoming the first player in school history to tally 100 goals at BU. She also broke Lefort's program record of 183 career points and now has 192 points (101g, 91a) in her illustrious career.
The Milton, Ontario, native leads the NCAA in goals per game (1.20) and shots on goal per game (6.63), and is third in the country in points per game (2.03). Bach is also first in the nation in even-strength goals (29), road goals (21) and goals away from home (28). She has recorded 10 multi-goal games and is the only NCAA player to notch four hat tricks and two four-goal games this season. Bach's overall numbers may have been even better had she not missed four games in the middle of the season to serve as an assistant captain for Canada at the 2018 Nations Cup.
In addition to her hard work on the ice, Bach has made an impact in the classroom and in the community. She holds a 3.08 grade-point average in the College of Communication as an advertising major. Bach has also been active in the community, participating in the Holiday Reading Program and Skating Strides against Breast Cancer.
