Bach Named Hockey East Player of the Month
February 27, 2018 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Senior Victoria Bach of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Player of the Month, the league announced on Tuesday.
This is the third such honor for Bach, who also earned Hockey East Player of the Month accolades for her play in November and January. She is just the second player in league history to earn three monthly awards in one season.
Bach was sensational for the Terriers in February. She led the league with seven goals and 13 points, and also won more faceoffs (113) than any other skater in the conference. Bach also generated an impressive 7.75 shots on goal per game, which was far and away more than any other player in the NCAA. After being held without a point on Feb. 2, Bach closed the month on a seven-game point streak and scored a goal in six of those seven tilts. The Milton, Ontario, native factored on 65 percent of the Terriers' goals in February.
A top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, Bach factored on three of the Terriers' four game-winning goals in February. She had a goal and an assist in all three Hockey East quarterfinal games and tallied at least two points in all but three of the Terriers' eight February fixtures. Her best game was in the Beanpot semifinals against Harvard when she tallied two goals and assisted on the game-winner in a 3-2 victory.
Bach finished her impressive collegiate career as the program's all-time leader in goals (104) and points (198). Her 94 assists also ranks third all-time. She compiled one of the best statistical seasons in school history, scoring a program-record 39 goals and adding 28 assists for a school-record 67 points, shattering the previous standard by 10 points and doing so in three fewer games.
