Red Hot Rematch: BU, Cornell to Meet in NCAA Northeast Regional

BOSTON - After winning the program's ninth Hockey East championship, the Boston University men's ice hockey team will face off against Cornell on Saturday, March 24, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m.

The Terriers earned their spot into the field of 16 with a 2-0 victory over Providence on March 17 in the league championship game. Cornell is the No. 3 overall seed and was the ECAC regular-season champion.

This is the Terriers' 36th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and it will be the third time that they will meet the Big Red in the NCAA Tournament. Both of those previous meetings were for a national title, as BU bested Cornell, 4-0, to win the 1972 championship while the Big Red earned a 4-1 win over the Terriers in the 1967 national championship game.

Michigan and Northeastern are the other two teams in the Northeast Regional. The regional final will take place on Sunday, March 25, at 4 p.m.
