WASHINGTON - Freshman
Chris Gray of the Boston University men's lacrosse team has been added to the 2018 Tewaaraton Men's Watch List, as announced on Thursday.
Gray has been one of the best rookies in the nation this season. He currently leads all NCAA freshmen with 31 assists and ranks second among national rookies with 51 points. Gray has tallied a point in each of his first 12 collegiate contests and has also recorded at least five points six times, including in four of the last six contests. Overall, Gray ranks eighth in the nation in assists and 14th in points.
A native of Wading River, New York, Gray is the first Terrier in program history to record at least 30 assists in a single season. He is also just the second Terrier to notch 50 or more points in a single year. In addition to his 31 assists, Gray has tallied 20 goals and has only been held without a goal on one occasion this year.
Gray joins senior Jack Wilson as Terriers on the Tewaaraton Watch List. Wilson was named to the initial list of 50 men on March 1. On April 26, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Nominees can be players on the watch lists or players not on the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 10 and invited to the ceremony. The 17th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on May 31.
