Women’s Rowing Varsity 8 Named Patriot League Boat Of The Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Boston University women's rowing Varsity 8 has been selected as the Patriot League Boat of the Week for the week of April 19, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The honor is BU's first weekly award of the 2023 spring season. It marks the first weekly award for a Terrier crew since the Second Varsity 8 received the accolade on May 4, 2022. The previous BU V8 to earn the honor was on April 27, 2022.
BU's Varsity 8 retained the Council Cup for the second-consecutive year, topping Northeastern on April 15. The crew, coxed by Trisha Jaggi and stroked by Sofia Suhinin, built a six-seat lead in the opening half of the 2,000-meter course, leading by as many as two seats of open water. BU crossed the line in 6:33.7, nearly five seconds ahead of the Huskies.
The performance marked the fastest time of the spring for the Varsity 8. BU has won all three of its dual races on the Charles River in the last month.
BU returns to the water on Friday (April 21) for the two-day Lake Wheeler Invite. Seventeen crews are set to participate in the event, co-hosted by Duke and North Carolina.
