ALL CANDIDATES
The nominee must have conducted him or herself in such a way as to reflect honor on the University and to have those qualities of character and standard of conduct most desirable in one who may be cited as an example for all people.
The following are the qualifications for an individual to be nominated for induction to the Boston University Athletic Hall of Fame:
- The individual was a former Boston University Athlete;
- The individual was a recipient of a varsity letter/Sargent College equivalent;
- The individual’s original class was graduated a minimum of five years earlier;
- The individual demonstrated exceptional athletic ability representingBoston University in intercollegiate competition;
- the individual made significant contributions to Boston University Athletics;
- The individual was a Boston University graduate.
One or more of the above qualifications may be waived to nominate a candidate under extenuating circumstances.
NON-ATHLETES
Non-athletes may or may not have had any direct affiliation with Boston University but must have demonstrated their support of BU student-athletes and the athletic department. Their contributions may be varied: coach, administrator, faculty athletic advisor, supporter of the athletic program, valued employee of the athletic department, volunteer coach or team physician, among others. These contributions should be significant and substantial in duration and stature.
The individual must not currently be active with the athletic program and/or department.
Any coach or staff member may be nominated five (5) years after leaving Boston University. A current employee of Boston University may be nominated with a minimum of twenty (20) years of service to the University. A former employee with less than 20 years of service to BU may be nominated five (5) years after completion of his/her tenure.
