In 1964, Bob Capuano was voted — along with George Sulima, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame the previous year — as one of the two top ends in Boston University's post-war football history.

An All-State end at Rhode Island's Cranston H.S., he became a favorite target for the passes of the immortal Harry Agganis. In 1951, he caught three touchdown passes against William & Mary.

Elected team captain for the 1952 season, he was forced to leave school before the start of the season because of illness, and he was not able to return.

While at BU, he also starred in basketball, and in 1951 was selected as Rhode Island's Outstanding Italo-American Athlete of the Year. He suffered an untimely death from a heart attack in 1964.
