Boston University

As a sophomore, Steve Stirling helped the Terrier hockey team to a 20-9-3 record with 13 goals and 20 assists. As a junior, he was second on the team in scoring with 20 goals and 31 assists as the Terriers finished with a 20-7 record and won the Beanpot title.

The captain of the team his senior year, Stirling led Boston University to its first national title. Scoring twice in the 4-2 win over Minnesota in the NCAA championship game, Stirling led the team with 27 points and 43 assists. Following that season, he was named All-American, All-East and All-New England. The MVP of the Beanpot Tournament, which Boston University won, Stirling also won the Gordon "Mickey" Cochrane Award as the University's top athlete and shared the E. Ray Speare Award with Richie Taylor.

A native of Clarkson, Ontario, Stirling finished his career with 60 goals and 94 assists — which placed him second, at the time, on the Terriers' all-time scoring list.

The head hockey coach at Providence College, Stirling earned national college division Coach of the Year honors at Babson College in 1980.
