Wrestling Continues Winning Ways; Overpower Wagner and Sacred Heart

After starting the 1999-2000 season winless in its first five matches, the Terrier wrestling team has reeled off six consecutive victories, including a 57-0 conquest over Wagner and a 39-6 triumph over Sacred Heart in East Coast Wrestling Association action on Sunday February 6 in Staten Island, NY.
The wins improve B.U.'s record to 6-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the ECWA.
The Terriers opened their match against Wagner with pins by freshmen Rich Wilson (Coldwater, MI) and Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) in the heavyweight and the 125-pound divisions, respectively.
Freshman 157-pounder Josh Sigmon (Bethlehem, PA) his collegiate dual-meet debut by pinning Wagner's Anthony Kuefner at 2:48, while 165-pound junior Zak Emond (Lake Zurich, IL) earned a 9-2 decision over John Leone.
The remaining six matches of the dual meet were forfeited by Wagner.
In its second match of the afternoon, B.U. proved to be too much for Sacred Heart. Wilson, Leon, Sigmon, and freshman 197-pounder Ed Strauss (Macungie, PA) all pinned their respective opponents.
Other Terrier winners versus Sacred Heart were Mike Messina at 133 pounds, Francisco Ugalde (141), Malik Elliott (149), and Ali Abri (174).
The Terriers return to the mat on Saturday February 12 at 5 p.m. when they host the Broncs of Rider University on "The Roof".
