Terriers Lose To Hofstra In Conference Opener

The Terrier wrestling team opened the conference portion of its schedule on Sunday (January 6th) as it lost to host Hofstra, 34-6. The loss evened the Terriers' overall record to 1-1 as it defeated Binghamton, 32-7, on December 8th.
Senior Ali Abri (Ashland, VA) and sophomore Leighton Brady (Tulsa, OK) led B.U. against Hofstra. Abri beat Ralph Everett, 5-3, at 174 pounds, while Brady defeated James Scanlan, 8-2,at 157 pounds. Other Terriers in action were
- Sophomore Benjamin Schilens (Westlake, OH) lost 4-1 to John Garriques at 165 pounds
- Junior Chad Grant (Edins Rapids, MI) was defeated 6-1 by Jason Stretkowicz at 184 pounds
- Freshman Courtney Howard (Sitka, AK) was beat, 5-2, by Matt Daddino at heavyweight
- Junior Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) lost to Tom Noto, 4-3, at 125 pounds
- Freshman Joe Rivera (Stroudsburg, PA) was pinned by Frank Hoeffner in 4:48 at 133 pounds
- Jason DeBruin had a major decision over senior Jason Holder (Salem, NH), 16-6, in the 149-pound class.
