Terriers Edge Seton Hall
January 23, 2001 | Men's Wrestling
Junior Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) defeated Tom Becker by technical fall, 23-8 at 125 pounds to give the Boston University wrestling team a much-needed five points in the Terriers' 20-18 win over Seton Hall on January 20 at Case Gym.
Leon's victory gave B.U. a 20-12 lead, but the team had to forfeit six points at 133 pounds due to a rash of injuries which produced the final margin. Leon's win was pivotal to the meet.
B.U. trailed in the meet, 12-9, when junior Ali Abri (Ashland, PA) and sophomore Ed Strauss (Macungie, PA) won decisions at 197 and Heavyweight, respectively, to put the Terriers up 15-12 entering Leon's match.
The victory gave B.U. a 2-2 record on the season, 1-2 in the ECWA.
The Terriers are on the road next to face Rider on January 26 at 7 p.m.
