Terriers Slip Past Army, 18-15

Boston, MA-The Boston University wrestling team rebounded from a heartbreaking loss at Brown one week ago (January 19th), by slipping past a gritty Army team at "The Roof" on Saturday (January 26th). In a hard-fought contest, decided on the final match of the day, the Terriers pulled out an 18-15 victory.
Army jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead as junior Chad Grant (Edin Rapids, MI) lost a tough match to John Paxton, 8-4 and freshman Courtney Howard (Sitka, AK) dropped a decision to Thomas Anderson, 12-5. Junior Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) opened the scoring for BU after he was awarded a victory at 125 due to forfeit.
Freshman Joey Rivera (Stroudsburg, PA) recorded an 8-3 decision over Chad Monroe at 133 and junior Jason Holder (Salem, NH) won at 149, defeating Kris Perrin, 10-3 to extend the lead for the Terriers.
Junior Mark Laramee (Rockland, MA) dropped a decision to Phillip Simpson, 6-2, and in one of the most competitive match-ups of the day, Leighton Brady (Tulsa, OK) fell to Jeremy Connor with ten seconds left in the match, 9-8. Army went on to tie the score up at 15 after Bryon Nelson (North Kingston, RI) lost a 4-0 decision to Matt Bernard.
Senior Ali Abri (Ashland, VA) continued his stellar season with a crucial victory in the final and decisive match of the day. With the teams deadlocked at 15, Abri fought his way to an 8-4 decision over Craig Cooper in the 184-pound weight class. With the win, Abri improves to 6-0 in dual meets and 21-7 overall on the season.
Boston University is now 4-2 in dual matches and is set to host conference rival Drexel University on February 1st at 7:00 pm at Case Gymnasium.
