Terriers Open CAA Schedule With 32-7 Win Over Binghamton

BOSTON - The Terrier wrestling team opened the dual-match portion of its schedule on Friday (December 8th) by beating Binghamton University, 32-7.
Juniors Jose Leon (Santa Ana, CA) and Mark Laramee (Rockland, MA), along with sophomore Ben Schilens (Westlake, OH) led the Terriers. Leon beat David Hockenberry, 23-15, at 125 pounds, while Laramee defeated Joe Gartiser, 16-7, at 141 pounds. Schilens pinned Ron Foster in 4:05 minutes at 165 pounds. Other winners for the Terriers were: - Freshman Joseph Rivera (Stroudsburg, PA) defeated Josh Ruff, 3-1, at 133.
- Senior Jason Holder (Salem, NH) beat Rob Sckalor, 8-4, at 149.
- Senior Ali Abri (Ashland, VA) had an 11-8 victory over Jerome Joe at 174.
- Junior Chad Grant (Edin Rapids, MI) defeated Jeff McAvenoy, 15-8, at 184.
- Junior Ed Strauss (Easton, PA) won by forfeit at 197. Sophomore Steve Beovich (Long Island, NY) and Freshman Courtney Howard (Sitka, AK) were the only Terriers who lost their matches. Beovich lost to Beau Bruno, 13-5 at 157 pounds, while Howard was defeated by Teftt, 4-1, at heavyweight.
